Make a custom motorcycle seat cover!

Image
While I'm waiting for parts to show up (yeah, finally ordered!!!) I decided it was time to get going on the seat cover. I am by no means an expert, or even a little familiar with making seat covers. I've done it a time or two, but this is by far the most complex cover I've attempted. I think it turned out pretty darn nice! It's not perfect, but if you're wanting perfect, you're in the wrong place. In these parts, we're rough around the edges! I would LOVE feedback from y'all especially if you have tips for me to use on the next one, because I'm sure I'll be doing this again! Thanks for watching! Mounting Tires, and BUILDING TOOLS!

Image
Quick project update for you. Got the new rims painted, picked up the nuts and bolts, and mounted the tires. Turned out great! Wasn't totally happy with the paint, this stuff flows quite a bit differently than other paints I use. I think with a little more practice it would come out with a mirror finish though! For now, it's plenty good enough. What do you think of my new shop dust fan? I'll have a video on it coming out soon! Anyone have any good "chrome" paints they like to use? Thanks for watching! Tank Sealing

Image
What happens when you don't pay attention? You make a HUGE MESS and ruin the paint on your gas tank... Don't make my mistake! SUPER common problem when working on old motorcycles- the tank is rusty, has pinholes, or it's just filthy dirty. RED KOTE to the rescue! I've used this stuff several times with great success. I won't be going through any tank cleaning process, but I'm going to show you how to use Red Kote to line and seal the tank to take care of any pinholes and keep rust from getting into your carburetor! Have you used any other products for cleaning, de-rusting, or sealing and lining fuel tanks? How to buy parts for your motorcycle project!

Image
I've worked on hundreds if not thousands of different motorcycles, lawn & garden machines, cars, trucks, the whole spectrum. One of the things I think very few realize is the amount of time and effort that goes into finding parts that are going to fit, look good, and last. ESPECIALLY when working on something as "old" as this Z50! Over the years, I've found a few tips and tricks that help me find what I need, and I'm sharing them with you in this video! Do YOU have any special ways to find parts? What's your go-to website? Any suggestions for me?

Some gains, and some BIG losses...

Image
Progress was made, but parts were destroyed. One step forward, three steps back. I knew the bike was rough, but I may have underestimated just HOW rough this thing is. Parts that looked useable or at least fixable at the initial tear down literally fell to pieces during the pressure washing... Rust was so bad in the rims, that, well, you'll see. Needless to say, elbow grease and paint aren't going to save some of these parts. But there IS good news- Definitely made some good progress this week cleaning and painting a few of the bits!
